Llanera, 16th June 2010. COFIDES and IDEPA sign a partnership agreement in order to strengthen cooperation as a means of supporting companies from Asturias to establish in foreign markets.

The more the region of Asturias is transforming its economy, the more Asturian companies invest in foreign countries. Asturias has steadily reduced its dependence on heavy industries and agriculture and encouraged investments in newer sectors such as information technologies, renewable energies or tourism. The high level of education in Asturias, the good communication and transport infrastructure, as well as the low staff attrition rate become key factors to bolster the development of high tech industries.

This transformation has involved an economic growth and diversification process faced by the Asturian economy in Spain and in foreign countries. For that reason, the partnership agreement ensures a commitment from both institutions to promote the financial support available for the Asturian companies that establish abroad. Indeed, IDEPA will promote the financial instruments and resources managed by COFIDES, especially FIEX and FONPYME.

Furthermore, COFIDES held meetings with Asturian companies – named as Eolo Sport Industrias, Zitrón y Atox Sistemas de Almacenaje operating in toys production, capital goods and metallic shelving & storage systems.

> IDEPA, the Economic Development Agency of the Principality of Asturias, is a Public Institution dependent on the Asturian Regional Administration. IDEPA aims to bolster economic growth and generate employment in the region of Asturias, by stimulating and providing support for business activity.
