Madrid, July 23, 2013.  Compañía Española de Financiación del Desarrollo, COFIDES S.A, will finance a 1,244,500 euros loan to Auxiliar Conservera S.A. to enhance its Chile’s production plant capacity.

COFIDES Chairman Salvador Marín signed today an agreement with Auxiliar Conservera S.A´s CEO and the General Manager of Finance and Media, José Manuel Meca and Daniel Ballesta, whereby COFIDES grants a joint-venture loan through the Fund for Foreign Investment (FIEX).

This funding will increase the productive capacity in Chile of the project company, Auxiliar Conservera Americana S.A., presently engaged in the manufacture and marketing of metal packaging and easy-open lids. Auxiliar Conservera S.A. is active in Chile since 2006, due to the presence of several Spanish canning businessmen in the country. This project represents a good opportunity to the company as it will allow them to capture new customers and keep on growing as a company.

COFIDES Chairman Salvador Marín highlighted the strength of the agri-food sector, which, “under the current economic context, is achieving a significant increase in their sales abroad because they offer innovative and very competitive products”. He also emphasised that “obviously, this project will contribute to further secure the company’s position in our country, since a growing company is a consolidated company”.

Auxiliar Conservera S.A´s CEO, José Manuel Meca, commented that this agreement “will provide an important boost to Auxiliar Conservera Americana, because this project is to facilitate, on the one hand, manufacturing new formats that will allow increasing the product line currently manufactured in Chile, and on the other hand, it will consolidate the ongoing business growth achieved since its startup.” He likely stressed that Auxiliar Conservera´s international expansion is helping stimulate the business in Spain, “favouring the company’s growth in global terms”.

Auxiliar Conservera S.A. is a family company established in 1961, based in Molina de Segura (Murcia) and dedicated to manufacturing metal packaging and lids. It has a longstanding record and is well positioned in the market so that, under the current economic situation, has managed to increase the sales volumes.

COFIDES is a combined private-public concern, which for the past 25 years has provided financial support to Spanish enterprises abroad. COFIDES administrates FIEX and FONPYME funds, dependent of the State Secretariat of Commerce, within the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness. The stockholders also include the participation of Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria (BBVA), Banco Santander and Banco Sabadell.
